Gathi Subekti has been shaping contemporary architecture in Bali for over 15 years through a thoughtful, contextual approach that blends environmental sensitivity with modern tropical design. As Co-Founder and Principal Architect of Arkana Architects, her work on projects such as Desa Hay, Umasari House, Cumulus Villa, and Oberoi Villa reflects a deep commitment to creating meaningful spatial experiences. Beyond practice, Gathi is a passionate advocate for women in architecture, mentoring young professionals and fostering inclusive dialogue across Indonesia. Through her design philosophy and leadership, she continues to demonstrate how architecture can strengthen communities, inspire reflection, and create lasting connections between people and place.
Keynote Spotlight – Monika Choudhary & Sahir Choudhary
Monika Choudhary, Co-Founder and Chief Development Officer of Habitat Architects, has spent over three decades shaping design through the lens of culture, strategy, and purpose. Combining expertise in fashion, interior design, and business, she champions what she calls the “architecture of belonging”—creating spaces that honour local identity while embracing contemporary thinking. Alongside leading the growth of Habitat Architects, she is a strong advocate for indigenous crafts and women’s economic empowerment. Her contributions have been recognised internationally, including participation at the United Nations CSW63 and Dubai Expo 2020, reflecting her commitment to design as a catalyst for meaningful social impact.
Sahir Choudhary, Chief Operating Officer and Senior Architect at Habitat Architects, is redefining the relationship between technology and architecture. A graduate of Cornell University, he believes that technology should strengthen design and make architecture more human, not replace it. With experience across New York, Boston, Dubai, and India, Sahir brings expertise in AR, VR, digital fabrication, and parametric design to create smarter, more sustainable buildings. His work bridges global innovation with Indian construction practices, championing a future where technology enhances creativity, improves the building process, and delivers spaces that are thoughtful, efficient, and deeply connected to human experience.
