Beyond Form: Mahmud Shaheen on Designing Architecture with Context, Purpose and Meaning
Mahmud Shaheen of P&T Group offered a compelling perspective through context-led design philosophy. He explored how every project begins with place, purpose and the people it is meant to serve, before form takes shape.
Through an innovation hub in Abu Dhabi, a community-oriented stadium in Dubai and a new workplace model in Dubai Healthcare City, Shaheen demonstrated how sustainability, identity, climate response and commercial performance can work together. His examples showed that successful architecture is not simply about creating memorable buildings, but about shaping environments that people can understand, use and connect with. The session ultimately positioned responsibility, meaning and human experience at the heart of enduring design.
Beyond Aesthetics: How INI Design Studio’s Ten Metrics Shape Meaningful Architecture
Jayesh Hariyani offered an insightful look into INI Design Studio’s approach to answering that question through its “Ten Metrics” of design. Moving beyond aesthetics, the presentation explored how humanism, sustainability, performance, context, innovation and collaboration can shape every stage of a project.
A series of diverse case studies brought these principles to life from community-sensitive redevelopment in Mumbai and high-performance corporate architecture to the rebuilding of Kedarnath and the creation of Gujarat’s Aquatic Gallery. Each project reflected a process rooted in questioning, research and responsiveness to its surroundings. The session ultimately reinforced that thoughtful design is not driven by form alone, but by people, environment, purpose and the ability to create lasting value.

The People and Ideas Shaping Jaipur’s Built Environment
As the evening unfolded, conversations extended beyond the stage, bringing together architects, interior designers, consultants, developers, and industry professionals shaping Jaipur’s evolving design landscape.
