About Jonas Upton-Hansen

Jonas Upton-Hansen is the Founding Director of award-winning global architecture studio UHA. Following a Master’s in Architecture from the Architectural Association, Upton-Hansen joined Foster + Partners and collaborated on projects including the McLaren Formula 1 UK headquarters and Monaco Yacht Club. In 2005, he moved from London to Chicago and joined the office of Murphy/Jahn as Associate Principal, helping drive prestigious large-scale projects the likes of Hudson Yards in New York City and the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre in Qatar. Upton-Hansen returned to London in 2011 and founded UHA, with the studio quickly expanding in 2013 with the opening of its first satellite office in Mumbai to oversee a growing portfolio of work across Asia. India has been fundamental to the growth of the studio, and has professional and personal ties for Upton-Hansen, whose mother was born in Mumbai. Entering its 15th year, UHA has delivered projects pan-India including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Gurugram, Goa, and Lucknow, and has opened a second office in Delhi to service the more than 25 projects currently on site in Delhi NCR alone. UHA also has offices in Limassol, Lisbon, Budapest, Taipei, Jakarta and Tokyo, and its Pentad Pavilion, initially exhibited at Mumbai’s Architecture and Design Film Festival, was also the sole pavilion chosen to exhibit as well at India Art Fair in Delhi. Upton-Hansen was born in Denmark, raised in France, and educated in England, and is a registered Architect in all three countries.
