Kashef Chowdhury is an acclaimed architect and founder of the Dhaka-based studio URBANA, known for his climate-responsive and context-driven approach to architecture. His practice emphasizes materiality, sustainability, and the relationship between built spaces and their social and natural environments. With a strong research-oriented design philosophy, the studio develops projects across cultural, institutional, educational, healthcare, residential, and climate-action sectors, creating architecture rooted in local identity while maintaining a contemporary expression. Kashef Chowdhury has received several prestigious international honors for his work, including the AR+D Architecture Award 2012 from the Architectural Review, London, the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 2016, and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) International Prize in 2021.
